Every Fall, I struggle with my wardrobe, I just don't know what to wear to be warm enough, and layer well, and which shoes.....I need to check the link-ups and get inspired.  Here's what I wore today.

Time to revisit my goals.

Goal #1:  My closet.  It is still in pretty good shape, I have kept up on the ironing and washing, but I have a couple baskets to fold and put away today.  I also need to put my shoes back in neatly.  

Goal #2:  Be on time.  Ummmmm, no.  But I have been on time to work and Sol has been on time to school and we all have been on time to church for almost every Sunday.  I did lapse last week and came in football holding Wilson with diaper bag dangling and 2 sons dragging right behind.  I disdain Sundays without the husband- still, no excuse.  

Goal #3:  Organize the boys' desk.  After a little time shopping around, I decided I wanted something custom.  My brother-in-law dropped off this little beauty.  It needs finished or painted.  I think I will do 

chevron in dark teal and maybe highlight in light gray?  Masculine without being ugly?  

Goal #4:  Less time online.  Yes, then no, but now yes!  

This week, I set concrete limits and am sticking to them.  

They are:  

Check email 5 times a day, no more.  (It beats my 19 times a day from before!)

No Facebook, articles, or blogs until after the boys are in bed- my surfing past bedtime cannot exceed 1 hour.  

I can get online with a specific purpose (eg: find a recipe, look up directions, send an email. . .) but not to surf.  

I can get online to watch a show on Hulu, IF it does not inhibit my productivity- so, I have to save it for laundry time.  

I also allowed myself a little dispensation to post today (with no real reason, I just really wanted to).  

I will go back to my regular schedule once posted.  So, yes, because I have really stuck with this this week and I have done several things around here that needed done thanks to purpose-driven internet only.  Most nights, I didn't even use my hour at the end of the day- I just did other things or went to bed earlier.

NEW GOAL TIME!

Goal #5:  Run 5 times a week or more.  I'm not designating an amount of time or distance, I'm just making myself get out and get active.  I ran yesterday and determined 2 things:  I am out of shape.  I need to stretch more to keep my ankle from cramping.  

I am NOT a runner but need to do something along the lines of fitness.  I want to run in a 5K at my church next month, which is pretty ambitious considering I get a little winded jogging about 200 meters down the street.  I hope to go today after the sun sets.  It is blazing hot out there now!

This week I wore separates like I almost never do.  It's all pastels and clean looking.

I LOVE this print so very very much.

I love the look of tops like this, but when I wear one, I feel all high school oxford shirt and uniform again.  So collared button downs are a rarity for me, I guess I'm channeling the back to school feel.

Yesterday was our 4th(I think?) annual Great Scott! Barbecue.  It is a big highlight of my summer.  We have a huge backyard/inside party with Shawn's pulled pork, hot dogs, and a pony keg.  Friends and family all come on over and hang out.  This year was a real blast.  Since my camera is awful and my friend with a better camera was there, I took exactly 1 terrible picture.  Behold. 

Update**Okay here is one my friend got before things got all crazy.

My extended family came to church today spontaneously coordinating, Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister and her family and mine.  I tried to get some photos but lame camera means mostly fuzzy ones.

They took some too, so maybe I will get them up later.  Here's what I did get

Today, I cantored at Mass so just me, no kids.  Which means, no need to wear nursing clothes.  To celebrate, I veered from the typical noncolor scheme and wore a fun coral dress.  The length is a bit iffy after an unfortunate washer trip.  I wore it with the jean jacket some of the day and the cardigan some.  It has a cut out in the back which is super cute but not cool for church.

Last night, Shawn and I found ourselves with just 1 kid since Grandma took the big boys swimming.  We rallied our Bonefish Gift Cards and I ate the Mussels Josephine - so good.

What I Wore Sunday

Here's what I wore today.

It can read 'mousy' but I love the style too much to let it go.

I'll keep it short today, a sharp relief from my last post. - inspired after discussing this gal.

Wanna make a yummy, easy quiche that usually pleases and stays minimal in price?

(The little quiche is a gluten free version for Sol.
Oats, butter, water in the food processor can be pressed into a pie pan as a gluten-free crust.)

You need:  

a pie crust (I buy cheap frozen section pre-made ones)

1 cup of whole milk, half n half, or heavy whipping cream

4 eggs

1-2 cups of cheese (I used cheddar this time)

Whatever you want meats and veggies (I used green onions, mushrooms, and ham)

Chop meats ad veggies (kitchen scissors make this easy)

Mix all ingredients(I beat the eggs at the same time).  Pour into pie crust.

Bake at 375 for 45 minutes - 1 hour.

People usually rave when I serve up the dish that takes all of 5 minutes to make. 

Enjoy.  These kids all wanted seconds.

What I Wore Sunday

To be perfectly honest, I wore this Saturday night to Mass, as my husband couldn't go Sunday.

I wore another black and white dress.  Figures.  It may surprise you not at all to know that my wardrobe consists of a great deal of black and white, or plain black dresses.  Yawn on, people, it may not change any time soon.

As I listened to the Gospel, I shifted a little uncomfortably at my, "we've got time, let's take care of the near empty gas tank" making us arrive late after the opening song.  Jesus essentially said, "drop everything" to his followers and I could've waited until after Mass to fill 'er up.  Father's homily this week focused on the hurry that we should have to serve God.  The same kind of hurry that Mary had when she went quickly to see Elizabeth because she was eager to share the good news.  What an awesome reminder about how we want to be eager to share the powerful message.  It reminded me of the beautiful thing I read in this post by Jenny - specifically #9 - about being a witness to the culture of life.  So I'm pumped to go out there this week and love sharing that message of joy!  (Anyone else notice how many more strangers connect over cute newborns in public?  People love babies.)

      This last week, wonderful people have been taking my kids on one-on-one dates.  Which rocks.  Nana(my Aunt Diana) took Sol to her house overnight.  My brother-in-law, Austin, took each boy on a different day to the Exploration Place.

Grandma took Dom to a puppet show and some other places for a whole day.  See the excited on his face?

And the best: my mother-in-law took Dom to the lake with her for the whole weekend! 

Sunday afternoon, my dad is taking Sol golfing.

I really was patting myself on the back for my productive week until this fact occurred to me, leaving me sort of realizing that I have a bunch of others to thank for that.  Pretty much always the case.

In other news, I was craving some bierocks, and my niece and I made a few 36 of them Saturday night.  I froze a ton for later.

So, Dom with Grandma, Sol with Dad, leaving me with exactly: 1 whole baby child.    I'm going to convince Wilson that we need a nap.  It will be glorious.  I'm jealous of napping me right now.

What I Wore Sunday

   Last week, I agreed to help out a friend by modeling for her Mary Kay fashion show thing.  I modeled for Lady McBeth's Boutique, 2 dresses, this was my favorite.  

At the show, I WISH those were my shoes.

It was reasonably priced and I got a discount, so I bought it - a rare thing for me. I seldom shop so having a dress that I liked already picked out and tried on was a good deal.  I wore it today for Mass.  Bonus, it is elastic at the top and I could nurse Wilson in it. 

Wish this was less blurry- but husband's Sunday to dispatch so...

I don't pull off headband hair well.  I wanted the red but next time I will skip the headband for sure.

My adorable nieces should have their own "What I wore Sunday" blog, because they are always styled to the nines.  

Is it acceptable to put little boys in dressy shorts and shirts in the summer?  I don't allow jeans or anything...thoughts?

So a while back I posted this in sadness and frustration, but our last game is Tuesday and things have gotten SO MUCH BETTER.  He's not that great at T-ball, but he's not being silly and ignoring advice anymore.  He hits the ball off the tee fine, and he goes after the ball with limited angry strangling when he doesn't get the ball, sometimes lobbing it to first base like he should.

So now, I get to enjoy the game stress free knowing that my son will be a hopeless T-ball athlete instead of a depressing T-ball sideshow.  And that is all I ever wanted.  Really.

Dominic made me laugh this week when he played with the cousins at the kitchen table. 
Dom:  Let's pretend we are mommies and daddies.
Coletti:  Yeah.
Dom:  And we are drinking beer.  (It was water.)
Francesca:  Yeah.
Dom:  Wow, this beer tastes really natural. 
Girls:  Yeah.
